ABOUT ME

JOSE SILVA

Jose Silva grew up in Venezuela and always had an inclination for the visual arts, which he started developing from a very young age. His parents encouraged his artistic abilities for drawing, painting, and sculpting. After graduating high school, he moved to the United States looking to make a career and find better opportunities. He attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and got his degree in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. He's been in the film industry ever since.

In 2014 he discovered a new passion for watercolors. Jose Silva's watercolor art focuses on portraits, but it's also very representative of Florida - incorporating birds and wildlife native to the state. He also enjoys making Fan Art for his movies and popular TV shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead. One of his Fan Art pieces was featured on The Talking Dead as Fan Art of the Week. Jose Silva's been part of the South Florida community for 18 years and he makes sure his art is representative of this vibrant and diverse community. In recent years he's been working on perfecting his craft, presenting art in local galleries, doing commission work, and selling his art in festivals and art walks in Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale area predominantly.

In the past year he's also been working on a collection of masks made of repurposed materials, titled "Redefined Masquerade", in which he gives used materials a new purpose and meaning. This new endeavor has opened him up from the visual arts into fashion, sculpting, and performance art, while staying consistent with his aesthetics and attention to detail. Fine art has become his main focus, specifically creating art that is authentic to his experiences, and he wishes to continue to share his unique style and view of life in different platforms in hopes to evolve, connect, and inspire.
